Bohemian Vibes Mystery Mandala CAL – Part 2: Rounds 1-3
Welcome to the first installment of the Bohemian Vibes Mystery mandala CAL! In this series, we’ll be working together to create a beautiful mandala blanket with bohemian charm. Each week, I’ll share a new section of the pattern, complete with written instructions, a crochet chart, and a video tutorial to guide you through every stitch. Let’s dive into Part One and get started!
Materials Needed:
• Yarn: Yarn in your choice of colors (I’m using Hobbii Rainbow Bamboo shades of rust, gold, and green.)
• Hook: I’m using a 4.5 mm hook
• Other: Stitch markers, scissors, yarn needle
Abbreviations:
• sc: single crochet
• hdc: half double crochet
• ch: chain
• sp: space
• sl st: slip stitch
Part 1 Instructions:
1. Make a Magic Circle:
To begin, make a magic circle. If you’re unfamiliar with this technique, you can watch this video tutorial for a step-by-step demonstration.
2. Round 1:
• Chain 1 in the circle.
• Make 6 single crochets (sc) into the magic circle.
• Join with a slip stitch (sl st) to the first sc to close the round. You should have a total of 6 sc.
3. Round 2:
• Chain 2.
• Make a half double crochet (hdc) in the same space.
• Continue by making 2 hdc in each sc around for a total of 12 hdc.
• Join with a slip stitch to the first hdc.
4. Round 3:
• Chain 2.
• Make a hdc in the same spot.
• Make 2 hdc in each hdc from Round 2 for a total of 24 hdc.
• Join with a slip stitch to the first hdc.
And that’s it for Part One! You’ve just created the center of your mandala blanket. Be sure to weave in any ends and block your work if needed.
