Welcome back to the second installment of the Bohemian Vibes Mystery Crochet-Along (CAL)! I hope you’re enjoying the process so far and loving how your project is coming together. In this part, we’ll be adding some beautiful texture and color as we work through rows 4 and 5. Let’s dive right in.

Row 4: Adding Subtle Texture with Gray

For this row, we’ll be using **gray yarn** to create a lovely set of double crochet clusters. Here’s how it works:

– Join between any set of 2 hdc from the previous row. 

– Ch 2 to start, followed by 2 double crochets together (2dct). 

– Then, you’ll ch 2 and 3 double crochets together (3dct) between the next set of hdc from round 3, skip 2 stitches, and repeat this pattern around. 

– At the end of this row, you should have 12 double crochet clusters in total.

This row will add some great structure to your project, preparing the foundation for the bold color coming up next!

Row 5: Pops of Red and Interesting Stitches

Now, it’s time to introduce some striking red yarn! Row 5 brings both visual interest and a new stitch technique to the table:

– Join in any ch 2 space from the row 4. 

– Work 3 single crochets (sc) in that space. 

– Then, work a back half double crochet (bhdc) behind each 2dc cluster, repeating this sequence **12 times** across the row. 

– You should end with 36 single crochets (sc) and 12 back half double crochets (bhdc).

This row really highlights the contrast between the soft gray and the vibrant red while adding depth with the bhdc technique!
